E X T R A C T I O N S is a piece that explores an avant-guard genre - contemporary physical theatre dance with crystal balls. We walk between two worlds – of dance and of circus. Many times, in dance project we take part in, introducing an object is a challenge. On the other hand in circus pieces, we have seen the beauty of the body in movement being lost or hidden behind the objects.
In the crystal ball the Sky and the Earth are reflected upside down by the line of the horizon. The ball is the world upside down, its counterpart.
Our practices lead us to share an exploration of duality in the symbolism Heaven and Earth imply. We put this duality in the scene through our bodies - source and medium, male and female, light and dark, object and reflection. Our exterior is a reflection of the interior just like the world we see is a reflection of our emotional states. We play with the shadows, with the non-evident, with the perspective from which we look, and the subtle corners of our perceptions.
The piece also introduces a play of stage lights that trigers an extraordinary perception of reality.
